Choral Day at Monkton – 6th November
On Tuesday all of A2 travelled north to Monkton School, near Bath for a choral day. They formed a massed choir of about 200 along with pupils from another seven prep schools under the entertaining but high standard direction of George Bevan. They learnt an alto and descant part to Amazing Grace, The Clare Benediction by Rutter and an exciting new carol. The Falcon Carol by Jonathan Wikeley is currently unpublished but we now have permission to sing it in our end of term carol service! There are four lovely melodies that combine, and you can hear a few seconds of it on the Tweet that day from @musicatmonkton.
Next Friday, 16th November, Lewiston Recorder Consort will be performing in Music Assembly at 0840, for ten minutes. The group features two of our recent Old Knightonians and will sound delightful! You are most welcome to come and hear them.
Seven of our musicians are working particularly hard for these next 17 days towards their ABRSM music exams on Tuesday 27th November. These are internationally accredited exams, taken all over the world and are a real “Gold Standard” of achievement, because they test aural, sight-reading and technical work as well as the ability to perform pieces. They are, of course, highly regarded by senior schools when our girls move on.
