On the 23rd May B2 and B3 visited the Sealife Centre in Weymouth as an introduction to our study of habitats in science.
We were taken on a sea safari to learn about turtles, sharks and penguins and also learnt about their habitats and the threats to them. The girls also found out about an exciting new conservation project to rehome a pair of Beluga whales in a protected bay in Iceland from their current home in a zoo in China. It was fascinating to find out how these beautiful creatures would be transported such a long distance. We were also able to get up close with some of the creatures in the rockpools, stroking starfish and examining the mermaid’s purses.
