On Friday, Ally from Bubbles Hair and Care came to talk to our girls about Homelessness.
‘Bubbles Hair and Care’ is a project run by Ally, who holds two monthly hair salons for the homeless in Bournemouth. The guys and ladies can come for a shower, get a haircut, a shave, find new clothes, stock up on supplies, have a yummy lunch and just spend a few hours in the warm to talk to people, feel safe, sleep and drink tea. Bubbles was set up in March 2019 and the first salon had 6 people, the last one had 37, so word is spreading. Ally goes round the streets every week or so to visit the guys, give them food, clothes and supplies and in the summer she held a cream tea in the park.
Ally spoke to the girls about what it means to be homeless and the possible circumstances that caused them to become so, they also discussed what we could do to help them. A huge thank you to Ally for taking the time out of her day to come and talk to us.
We are putting out a call for donations!
Your donations mean a HUGE amount and a simple t-shirt can make such a difference, showing them someone cares.
The next salon is in November and supplies are running very low, Ally desperately needs the following –
- Good quality second hand men’s clothes, in particular t shirts (short and long sleeves), trousers (size 28-34 waist), jumpers, hoodies, waterproofs, coats, trainers and walking boots.
- Some women’s clothes
- New socks and underwear, male and female
- Baby wipes, snack foods, deodorants.
- Sleeping bags, tents, large back packs.
- Dog food
