On Friday evening, 16 girls (mostly from Year 7 but three each from Year 8 & 6) produced an exquisitely beautiful concert in our elegant Fitzwilliam Room to a capacity audience of 50. The acoustics of this intimate space enabled us to relish the sounds of guitar, recorder, flute, voice and harp. The room was also filled with mellow trumpet music and foot- tapping jazz saxophone.
18 delightful pieces ranged in standard from Grade 1 to Grade 6, and in style from Sigrid to Beethoven, including an authentic rendition of a Baroque Sonata movement accompanied by harpsichord. Perhaps most impressive were the ensembles put together by the girls themselves, a contemporary pop song and a traditional lullaby accompanied (from memory) by one girl on the piano with another girl playing a bespoke violin obbligato.
