Number eight arrived in the afternoon, making the most of the lovely sunshine we have at the moment. He was so funny to watch, wobbling after mum on his little black legs.
While the mums are eating the haylage, the lambs make the most of the lack of supervision and form what we’ve nick-named a ‘lamb gang’. They bounce around, jumping on and off logs and chasing the chickens who wander free- range around the field. I was sitting on a log getting video clips on my phone when something prompted me to look over my shoulder. Click here to watch the video. Behind me was our ram, head down, about an arm’s length away, working out his run-up to charge. I did not stop to take a photo for you.
Our ram is very sweet natured. He has known us all his life and has never travelled far or been worked with dogs, just led by a bucket of food. He is greedy but produces beautiful lambs. I call him Rambo, of course. My advice would be, however sweet you think a ram is, do not turn your back on him.
A-Ram-sam-sam is a song that will stay in your head all day; try the dance moves too. Click Here to Watch the Video
