No new ones this morning, although….two younger ewes have either eaten too much grass or are pregnant, it is hard to tell under their thick fleeces. All are hot and seeking shade in the middle of the day. Filling their water trough with buckets is a tricky thing. We don’t have collies to round up our sheep so we depend on them following a bucket of food when we want them to move somewhere. Therefore they are obsessed with buckets and tend to mob anyone carrying one. So I had to fill two buckets with water and carry them across two paddocks, surrounded by an escort of over excited sheep. The one I had to keep turning round to locate was Rambo. I do not want to be head-butted by a ram while carrying two very heavy buckets of water.
Do you remember the walk you did around the games pitches carrying water to get a feel for how heavy it is? Sing along with “Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water”!
