The electric fencing is not really a barrier, more like a ‘serving suggestion’ for our feisty and independent sheep. We haven’t given them the whole of the neighbouring grass field as we don’t want them to get indigestion. (You might think you want a whole tray of 12 chocolate brownies but in fact you’ll have a sore tummy if you eat too many at once). There is plenty of grass for them inside the fence but one morning when I was checking everything I noticed a young girl from last year was the wrong side of the fence. I walked cautiously towards her. When she noticed me about ten metres away she looked just slightly guilty and bounded gracefully back over the fence to carry on grazing as if she’d been there all the time. Have you ever pretended you hadn’t been in the wrong place just a few seconds earlier?
Here is a famous piece of music composed for a film in 1963 called The Great Escape. The main tune is quite short and great fun to whistle.
