B1 visit to Bournemouth Mosque
As part of our Religious Studies, B1 visited Bournemouth Mosque on Monday morning. We were greeted by John, who gave us a most interesting and knowledgeable talk about Islam and what goes on inside a Mosque. For most of us, it was the first time we had been in a Mosque and it was really interesting to discover how Muslims are called to prayer and to be shown the rituals involved in praying. We also learned how to say ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye’ in Arabic (‘Al-Salamu Alaykum / Wa Alaykum al-Salam’ and ‘Asalam o Alaykum’). We had lots of questions and John was happy to answer them all until we ran out of time and had to leave to return to school, but not before we had a tour of the Mosque and drew our plans of the inside of the building.
It was a really interesting visit. Thank you very much to John and the Bournemouth Islamic Centre and Central Mosque for making us so welcome.
